Misha came home to find her grandfather doing handsprings on the polyp-grown porch, howling override commands as his synthetic body leapt and bounced. She dove through his cartwheeling limbs and managed to stick her thumbprint on the manual emergency reset.

Her grandfather collapsed in a heap, grimacing up at her. “Someone hacked me again, Misha.”

Misha rubbed her eyes. His body was new, but the brain ensconced in electrogel and carbon shell was the same as ever.

“What did you set as your password, Grandpa?”
